Arthur Smyrski Obituary

 

Arthur Thomas Smyrski, 82, of Dillsburg, PA, recently a resident of Celebration Villa, passed away Sunday, March 1st, 2026, at the Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill.

   He was born March 7th, 1943, in Rutland, VT the son of the late John A. and Helen M. (Pifko) Smyrski.

   Arthur was the widower of Grace A. (McKee) Smyrski.

   Arthur was a graduate of West Rutland High School Class of 1960 and he was a retired machinist for Progressive Service Die Company in Harrisburg. After retirement he worked for the Northern York County School District where he worked as a custodian.

   Arthur was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg, Loyal Order of the Moose, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Circle Lodge, Mechanicsburg Club, Dillsburg American Legion Post #26, Mechanicsburg American Legion Post #109 and the N.R.A. 

   He enjoyed Wildwood Crest and Cape May fishing trips and spending time in Wachapreaqaue, VA. 

   Arthur is survived by his brother John A. Smyrski, Jr. of Hastings, MN; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Karen Hughes of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death along with his wife by his cat Sammy.

   Services will be held Tuesday, March 10th, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 10-11 am at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, PA. 

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation, Inc.,  P.O. Box 311, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
