Barbara Susan Hess

Barbara Susan Hess, 63, of Dillsburg past away Friday, February 16th, 2024, at her home.

   She was born Saturday, August 6th, 1960, in York the daughter of the late Ray H. and Shirley (Lemkelde) Hess.

   Barbara received Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 8 years old and was baptized at the old Kunkles Mill in the Conewago Creek in 1978.  Later started attending the Lighthouse Baptist Church in 2003 and joined the church in 2006. She loved working with people to make flower arrangements or making flower beds and gardens. 

   She worked at Charles Smith Florist in 1978 on Co-Op during her Junior year of high school and then graduated from York Vo-Tech in 1979. Barbara then worked full time at Charles Smith Florist, Stein's Flowers, Farrell's and then Blossom Shop.  Barbara enjoyed teaching Sunday School and helping out at Children's Church. She also enjoyed her many cats she had over her lifetime. 

   Barbara is survived by two siblings, Jonathan R. Hess (Jamara) of Dover, Juliet M. Groscost (John) of York; one nephew, Matthew Groscost (Elissa) Lewisberry; one great-nephew, Jonah Groscost and one great-niece, Brooklyn Markle. She is also survived by a great friend since 2006, Eugene Whisler.

   Services will be held Wednesday, February 21st, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St.. Dillsburg, PA. Viewings will be held Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 10-:00-11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Barrens Salem Union Cemetery, Dillsburg.
