Carl Anthony Obituary

Carl Allen Anthony, age 74, went home to be with Jesus on December 23rd, 2025, from his home in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, after a prolonged struggle with cancer.

He was born on May 4th, 1951, to Marion Warfield and Lucretia “Creety” Keen Anthony in Wilmington, Delaware.

Carl graduated from the University of Delaware with a BS degree in Animal Science. He used that knowledge in the poultry industry for over forty years. Carl loved the Lord and sought to follow His leading throughout his life, always trying to do what was right.

He met his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathleen (Davis) Anthony, when she was 15 and he was 16. Their mutual interest in horses brought them together, and through God’s leading, love followed. They enjoyed riding their horses together as long as they could, for over 50 years. Enjoying nature and the beauty of God’s creation was an important part of their life together. Additional pets joined their household, and they shared their love with dogs, sheep, cats and kittens.

When sons, Duane and Jason, came along, Carl was a dedicated and loving father. He liked teaching them how to use tools and encouraged them to help with projects around the house and barn, sharing his enjoyment of those activities with them. As the boys grew, so did the size of the projects. The whole family, eventually including grandchildren, gathered together for wood cutting/splitting “parties.” In addition, Carl enjoyed tooling leather, making a saddle, chaps, belts, and wallets for himself and others to use and appreciate. Family get-togethers, camping, and going for bike rides and walks with Kathy were other favorite activities.

Carl had a big heart and huge capacity for love and care for others, even outside of his family. He loved connecting with people and always enjoyed telling stories. He was a former Sunday School teacher, a youth leader, and an elder at his church. He was most recently a member of Hope Grace Church in Dillsburg, PA. He was a leader and horse show announcer for the Saddle Cinches 4-H Club in Lancaster County. He was a board member of Wellsville Frontier Days in Wellsville, PA, and a member of the East Berlin Fish and Game Club. Now that Carl has left the cares of this world, he joins his parents, Marion and Lucretica Anthony, and his two brothers, Marion Anthony, Jr., and Donald Anthony, in Heaven.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen Anthony; son Duane H. Anthony (Susan) and their two daughters, Katherine Wyrick (Jonathan) and Elizabeth Anthony; son Jason M. Anthony (Gina) and their two children, Justin Anthony and Allison Anthony; sister Ellen K. Flury (Paul), mother-in-law Janet H. Davis, treasured sisters- and brothers-in-law, and cherished nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on January 3rd, 2026. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at noon at Hope Grace Church, 110 Old York Road, Dillsburg, PA 17019, with visitation time with the family for one hour prior to the service. A private graveside service for family will be at 10am at Dillsburg Cemetery, Golf Course Road & Range End Road, Dillsburg, PA 17019.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hope Grace Church Missions or Wellsville Frontier Days, P.O. Box 246, Wellsvillle, PA 17365, with a note in the memo line.
