Carmella (Lippolis) Starner, age 94, of Camp Hill, PA, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2023. She was born June 15, 1929, in Scranton, PA, daughter of Giovanni and Josephine (Pugliese) Lippolis. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, Roger L. Starner, her five brothers, Bart, George, John, Mart, and Vincent, and her four sisters, Pauline, Mary, Esther, and Ruth. She is survived by her son, Rob, granddaughter, Kali, grandson, Kaleb, and numerous nieces and nephews.
After beginning her lengthy career in library services with a two-year stint at the Scranton Public Library, Carmella moved to Harrisburg where she spent the next 42 years in various capacities within the Dauphin County Library System. She served as Deputy Director for 35 years until her retirement in 1992.
Carmella was an active member of First Assembly of God in Harrisburg, PA for 50 years, serving in various administrative and ancillary capacities, including Sunday School secretary, director of seasonal programs, publication of the church bulletin and even janitorial services as needed. After relocating to the West Shore, Carmella attended Christian Life Assembly in Camp Hill, serving regularly in Crossfire, Forever Young and various volunteer projects, including bulletin publication, banquet preparation, and food bank distribution, for another 20 years until deteriorating health and a fractured hip made regular attendance and loving service too painful for her. Despite her increasingly more challenging health issues, Carmella invested the last 5 years of her “last full measure of devotion” in M28 Ministry, cooking and/or purchasing food for its regular house-church meetings. When she ultimately lost the ability to drive safely, she donated her car to one of the gentlemen remarkably recovering from substance addiction through the mentorship afforded by M28 ministry. Carmella spent the final three years of her near-century life homebound and Heaven-bound.
