Daniel Joseph Murdock

Daniel J Murdock, Sr., 87, of Dillsburg, PA, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on August 17th, 2023 while his wife of 34 years, Barbara A. Murdock held his hand.

     Born January 5, 1936 in Ranshaw, PA and a graduate of Coal Township High School where he played on championship teams for basketball and football.  His athletic experiences led him to be an avid sports fan, including Penn State Football, NFL favorites, and sharing a love of the Orioles with his wife.  After high school, Dan enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he proudly served from April 1954 until his honorable discharge on April 1962. 

     Dan was a life member of the VFW Post 6771 and American Legion Post 26.  Along with being a former business owner and postal worker, Dan retired from his career as a corrections officer with the PA State Department of Corrections. 

     Dan’s family consisted of five adult children, nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. A private burial service will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. 

     A Celebration of Life Service at Calvary Methodist Church, 203 Mumper Lane, Dillsburg, PA 17019 will be held Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 at 11:00 am with a visitation to be held one hour prior to the Service from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the Church.
