Darwin Eugene Shearer

Darwin E. Shearer, 92, of Wellsville, PA passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the York North Skilled and Rehabilitation Center, York.

     He was born July 17, 1932, in Dover Township, York County, PA the son of the late Clair M. and Dora A. (Stambaugh) Shearer.

     Darwin was the widower of Marguerite R. (Harlacker) Shearer.

    He was a lifelong farmer and also worked at various businesses over the years including the Dillsburg Shoe Factory, Pennex Aluminum Corp., Mrs. Smith Pies, Kampel Enterprises and operated Shearer Brothers Farm Equipment with his brother Carl.

    Darwin was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and a former member of Barrens United Lutheran Church, Wellsville Fire Company, and the Dillsburg American Legion. He also enjoyed attending public sales. 

     He was a graduate of Dover High School class of 1950 and serviced his country in the U.S. Army.

     Darwin is survived by his daughter, Debra J. Miller of Dover; and his brother, Carl R. Shearer and his wife G. Diane of Dillsburg; and several nieces and nephews. 

     He was preceded in death along with his parents by his son-in-law, Glenn A. Miller, one brother, Niles H. Shearer, and one sister, Maryellen L. Myers.

     Services will be held Monday, May 12, 2025, at 11:00 am in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St.., Dillsburg, PA. A viewing will be held Monday from 10-11 am at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Salem Union Cemetery, Dover. Dress is casual.
