David P. Herncane

David P. Herncane, 69, of East Berlin passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at the Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center.

   He was born July 21, 1954, in Mechanicsburg the son of the late James B. and Olive S. (Sheely) Herncane.

   David was a graduate of Northern High School, Class of 1972 and received his Associates Degree in Forestry from Paul Smith's College in Paul Smiths, NY. 

   David was a retired meat cutter. He was the meat manager for the former Myers Food Rite and then worked at Giant Food Store and Weis Market.

   He was a member of the Harrisburg Snyder Lodge #629 F. & A.M., life member of the East Berlin V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #8896, Dillsburg South Mountain V.F.W. Post #6771, and the Dillsburg American Legion Post #26. 

   David was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed cabin trips with his friends. He was also an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the Phillies. David loved spending time with his family and watching his children and grandchildren's sporting events. 

   David is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara J. (Border) Herncane; his son, Ryan A. Herncane; two daughters, Amanda J. Myers (Michael) of Hanover, Emily M. Bush of East Berlin; his sister, Susan Broadnix (Jack) of Newtown; six grandchildren, Emma Myers, Addison Myers, Colton Bush, Teagan Herncane, Logan Bush, Tenley Herncane; a daughter in law, Abby Herncane and many nieces, nephews,  brother and sister in laws. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by a brother, James Herncane.

   A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the East Berlin VFW Post 8896, 107 Locust St, East Berlin, PA 17316 in the Post's Top Floor Room.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
