David L. Thomas

Dave L. Thomas, entered and exited this life on the same day, June 13th. He was 56 years of age.

  He was preceeded in death by his parents, John W. and Helen (May) Thomas of Mechanicsburg, and a sister, Ruth Shumaker of Dillsburg.

   Surviving is his wife of 33 years, Shannan Thomas of York Haven. Also surviving are sisters, Mary Myers of Biglerville and Marie Brunner of Mechanicsburg, and his brothers, Loring of Mechanicsburg and John of Dillsburg. Dave had several nieces, nephews and cousins in and around York and Cumberland Counties.
Also surviving is his father-in-law, Arthur Turgeon and his wife Vicki of Mechanicsburg, and his best friend, Kurt Kempf of Mechanicsburg.

  Dave was a machine shop foreman for Skyline Steel/Nucor in Camp Hill for 30 years. He loved everything about machining, be it manual or CNC machines which he programmed. He often spent his spare time on Facebook in various machining groups, exchanging jokes and helping others in his field with their technical problems.  Dave also worked years ago in a local haunted house during the fall. He loved dressing up and scaring people. He even managed to scare some of the people who worked there. Dave was a lifelong biker. He loved only Harley-Davidsons. He had several, but his favorite was a blue 2003 ElectraGlide with a sidecar. He rode this bike through several winter Polar Bear contests sponsored by local Harley dealers. He loved classic Mopars, such as the 1970 'Cuda. He was lucky to have had several of them in his youth.

   The viewing will be on Monday, June 20th from 10 am - 11 am with the service immediately following at 11:00 am in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut Street, Dillsburg.   There will be a motorcycle procession to give Dave his last ride around Dillsburg before going to the Dillsburg Cemetery - Mountain Road, for burial.
