Eleanor M. (Rearick) Stepanic

Eleanor "Elly" M. Stepanic, 73, of Bent Creek Crossing, Mechanicsburg, PA passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the U.P.M.C. West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg.

   She was the widow of Robert "Bob" L. Stepanic.

   She was born March 14, 1950, in Reading, PA,  the daughter of the late John H. Rearick, Jr. and Mary K. (Keim) Rearick.

   Elly was a beloved elementary school teacher having retired from the Bermudian Springs School District. She primarily taught 4th grade and Special Education. She also worked at Bay City Restaurant in Hanover for over 15 years. 

   Elly received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from York College and received her Master’s Degree from Western Maryland College (McDaniel).

   She was a very active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Shiremanstown and served on the Social Committee at Bent Creek Crossing. Elly was also a past Dillsburg Borough Council member. 

   She enjoyed reading, cooking, and baking, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her many wonderful friends. 

   Elly was close to her step-daughter, Robin Singer (Todd), and her daughter Nicole. Elly is survived by her brother, John H. Rearick, III (Cindy) of Mechanicsburg; her sister, Barbara J. Rearick (Yasuhiro Saito) of Hamilton, NJ; two nephews, Daniel Rearick (Maria), Yasuhito Saito; one great-nephew, Seth Rearick; and one great-niece, Ava Rearick. Elly was preceded in death by her beloved cockatiel, Jo.

   A viewing will be held Tuesday October 10th, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 am at her church, St. John's Lutheran, 44 W. Main St., Shiremanstown, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at the Resurrection Cemetery, 116 S. Oak Grove Rd., Harrisburg, PA.

   Friends are welcome to join Elly’s family after the interment  at 2:30 pm at the Bent Creek  Community Center on Blue Mountain Vista, Mechanicsburg, PA for a celebration of Elly’s life. She would have loved nothing more than a party with those who loved her.
