Elinor A. (Sweigert) Brandt

Elinor A. Brandt, 84, of Dillsburg, passed away Monday evening, October 6th, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family, and rode her horse through the gates of heaven.

   She was born April 16th, 1941 in Highspire, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Raymond and Verna (Parthemore) Sweigert. 

   After graduating from Steel-High High School (Steelton), she began her professional career at Nationwide Insurance, where she made lifelong friends. After twelve years, she became a devoted wife to Eric and mother to her two sons.  Later in life, she worked at Heritage Acres in Dillsburg and part-time as a school van driver.  Elinor was a long-time member of Mount Pleasant Church of God where she was a choir member and helped in its nursery.  Recently she attended and worshiped at Mt. Airy Church. 

   Elinor’s lifelong passion was caring for her horses, horseback riding around her farm with friends, and in earlier years, competing in horse shows where she won numerous ribbons.  She also enjoyed dancing, playing cards and games, bowling, going to the beach, sewing, and spending time with her family and friends. 

   She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Eric Brandt, her sons Dan Brandt (Anne-Marie) of Dillsburg and Rick Brandt (Sarah) of Salem, MA, and her beloved granddaughter, Fiona. She is also survived by her brothers John and Dave Sweigert, and her sister-in-law Connie Smith, as well as her cherished horses, Sabre and Little Grey and her faithful dog, Victor.

   She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Stepp; her brothers, Bill and Fred Sweigert; her parents-in-law, Danny and Esther Brandt and her sisters-in-law, Elinor Brandt, Connie Sweigert, and Carol Sweigert. 

   A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 15th at 6:00 PM at the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut Street, Dillsburg, PA with the Reverend Tom Myers officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, with the service immediately following.
