Fred S. Fickes

Fred S. Fickes, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Wellsville, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, March 14th 2023. 

   He was born September 21st 1931 in Palmyra, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Guy and Minnie (March) Fickes. He lived his entire life in Wellsville, next to the family farm where he was raised. 

   Fred is survived by his wife, Barbara (Weaver) Fickes. Two sons; Fred C. and his wife, Amy of Dover and Michael and his wife, Diane of Wellsville. Two daughters; Deborah, of Maryland and Tamara and her husband, Scott of Dover. Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by two sisters Querida Lemkelde and Ruth Erb. 

   Fred was a past member of the Wellsville Fire Company and the Wellsville Frontier Days and a member of the Red Methodist Church in Wellsville. He was also a member of the Viking Club of York, Pennsylvania and the Dillsburg American Legion. Fred retired from Harley-Davidson, York, Pennsylvania. He went on to have a used car lot, Ace Auto Mart, on his property during his retirement years. He had many horses in his lifetime and enjoyed riding and going on trail rides. His favorite horse was "Pay Day". He also enjoyed going on many trips with Barbara and the annual trip to Ocean City, Maryland with his entire family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. 

   A private service was held at the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., Dillsburg, Pennsylvania and burial followed at the Warrington Friends Cemetery, Wellsville, Pennsylvania on Friday, March 17th 2023.
