Glenn Horning Gutshall, 88, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord on December 27, 2025, at his residence in Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, PA, surrounded by his family.
Born November 26, 1937 to Norman and Sara Gutshall, Glenn was a lifelong resident of the Harrisburg, PA area, where he was raised and spent the entirety of his life rooted in family, faith, and community. He was a man of deep Christian faith and prayer, devoted above all to his family, his church, and furthering the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Glenn served honorably in the U.S. Navy Reserves as an aerial photographer. A mechanical engineer by trade, he retired from AMP in 2001. Glenn spent his years in retirement continuing to serve his family, his church, Harrisburg Bible Chapel, and his community. He is remembered for the many hours spent in his workshop, building a treehouse with his grandchildren, and welcoming family, friends, and missionaries into his home with his wife Marian.
In 2015, Glenn and Marian made their home at Bethany Village, where Glenn quickly became an active and beloved part of the community. He especially enjoyed participating in the music group, where he played drums and sang in the choir, sharing his love of music and fellowship with others. Glenn also gave generously of his time by volunteering at the mail desk and operating the model train. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making friends wherever he went.
In his final moments, Glenn was surrounded by family, singing his favorite hymns and reading Scripture, commending him to the care of his Savior. It was a peaceful and faith-filled passing, reflective of the life he lived.
Glenn was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Marian Gutshall, sister Doris Miller, his three daughters, Deborah Gutshall, Susan Feliciano, and Carolyn Haas, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Glenn will be remembered for his gentle spirit, faithful prayers, and unwavering trust in Jesus Christ. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and the many lives he touched through quiet acts of service and devotion.
A service will be held in Glenn’s memory at the Bethany Village Richard D. Rife Center, 325 Wesley Circle, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, on Saturday, January 24th at 11 am. A light luncheon will be provided.
