Glenn E. Swope, 80, of Dillsburg, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023, at his home with his wife Kathy by his side.
He was born February 8, 1943 in Gettysburg, the grandson on Ivan G. and Iva L. (Melhorn) Swope.
Glenn was raised by his grandparents and cared for in his early years by his loving aunts, Lillian McKenrick and Anna Mae Wagner.
He was a 1964 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and employed for more than 30 years with J.H. Rearick & Son, Inc. He was a fan of the New York Yankees, Michigan Wolverines, and NASCAR.
Glenn was deeply devoted to his family and shared a special bond with his grandson, Colton. The great love of his life was his wife, Kathy, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Swope of Dillsburg, his son, Jeffrey Swope of Dillsburg, his grandson, Colton Swope of Dillsburg, family members, Scott, Deanna (Reiner, Swope), Emma, Abby, and Adele Shedlock of Dillsburg, his Aunt, Lillian McKenrick of Orrtanna, his Aunt, Anna Mae Wagner of Biglerville, and longtime family friend, Richard Cobb of Dillsburg. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his son, Kevin Swope.
A visitation gathering will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 7:30pm to 9pm in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg, PA. A private graveside service will be held at a later time.
