Harry Marshall Metzger, 86, of Dillsburg, PA passed away peacefully into rest at home on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
He was born July 17, 1939, in Shiloh, PA the son of the late Harry and Mae (Small) Metzger. He spent his childhood in York and Mechanicsburg and at his family's house in Sinnamahoning.
As an adult he spent many years in the dental lab business until his retirement in 1998. Rather than sit on his laurels, he went on to partner with his wife as successful antique dealers and becoming very knowledgeable in bottles, veterinary and dental equipment, early American tools, and advertising pieces, making many friends along the way.
In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing his lawn, antiquing, watching football, connecting with friends, and anything that he got to do with his wife, especially finding the best diners in the area and then quickly becoming a favorite regular of all the staff.
Harry was one in a million. Known for his teasing humor, he could be gruff and particular and yet rarely, if ever, an unkind work was spoken to anyone who didn't deserve it. He was always gracious and generous with praise when anyone would do anything for him. Everywhere he went, people knew him as a friend, and a good one.
He loved to spend time with his best buddy Dusty, and all the dogs he loved before him. He was rarely seen at home without him by his side. Above all, he loved his family. He never let them fall when they stumbled, an unwavering support. There was nothing he wouldn't. do for his beloved wife, treasured son, daughter-in-law, and his adored grandkids. He could often be found riding around the property in his golf cart with them by his side, their hands full of the treats he always made sure they had.
Home, food, friends, and family were where his heart lived and loved, and he will be so greatly missed. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Jane Metzger of Dillsburg; his son, H. Jason Metzger and his wife Katherine Metzger and grandchildren, Aizlynn and Ronon Metzger of Franklintown.
Services will be held at a later date at the discretion of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 311, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
