Hazel N. Wiley, 96, of Dillsburg passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023, at the home of her daughter in Newville.
She was born February 4, 1927, in Franklin Township, York County, PA the daughter of the late John and Nerma (Fidler) Hoffman and was one of eight children.
Hazel was the widow of Sylvan C. Wiley with whom she shared 71 years of marriage.
She was a retired seamstress for Boscov's in Camp Hill.
Hazel was a member of Calvary Methodist Church in Dillsburg and was a founding member of its Quilters at Calvary group.
Her passion was quilting and she made many quilts for each member of the family. Hazel enjoyed cooking and canning and music was a special part of her life. She loved singing, and playing the hymns. Her strong faith in God and love for her family was what defined her.
Hazel is survived by one son, Terry L. Wiley (Joyce) of Alamosa, CO; three daughters, Linda E. Taylor (Tim) of San Antonio, TX, Lou Ann McCauslin (Fred) of York Springs, Trina K. Sprecher (Scott) of Newville; one daughter-in-law, Patricia A. Wiley; one sister, Mildred Lerew of Mechanicsburg; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Hazel was preceded in death by a son, Blaine E. Wiley.
Services will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 10:00 am, in her church, Calvary Methodist Church, 203 Mumper Lane, Dillsburg, PA. A viewing will be Wednesday from 9:00-10:00 am at the church. Burial will be held in the Dillsburg Cemetery-Mountain Road.
