Huberta Keyzer Obituary

Huberta “Bert” Keyzer (nee Van Vliet), 94, of Mechanicsburg, PA, entered into eternal rest on Saturday October 18, 2025 at Messiah Lifeways, surrounded by her loving family.  Born on August 1, 1931 in Prospect Park, NJ, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Van Vliet.

Bert was a 1949 graduate of Hawthorne High School in Hawthorne, NJ.  She worked at Prospect Park National Bank until her marriage in 1954 to Marinus “Rin” Keyzer.  She and Rin raised four children in North Haledon, NJ.  In 2004 she and Rin moved to Dillsburg, PA and later to Messiah Lifeways in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Faith was a vital part of Bert’s life.  Bert was a long-standing member of Union Reformed Church in Franklin Lakes, NJ and later, Monaghan Presbyterian Church in Dillsburg, PA.  In later years she enjoyed worshipping at the Messiah Village Church.  She was involved in many church activities, always ready to help when needed.

Bert loved spending time with her family and eagerly awaited and celebrated each new grandchild.  Bert is survived by four children:  Ken Keyzer of Fair Oaks, California, Doug Keyzer (Kathy) of League City, TX, Sue Henry (Steve) of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Rob Keyzer of League City, TX.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Jeffrey, David, and Jon Keyzer, Kyle, Matthew, and Jason Keyzer, Michael, David, and Rebekah Henry and eight great-grandchildren Jacob, Zachary, Michael, Harvey, Judah, Eli, Linda, and Talia, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Rin Keyzer, and her brothers Aaron Van Vliet and John Van Vliet.

The family would like to thank the entire Messiah Lifeways staff for their loving care over the years and Homeland Hospice for their care and support during her final days.

Burial will be at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa, NJ at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Messiah Lifeways (messiahlifeways.org) or the charity of your choice in Bert’s honor.
