Irene E (Wonders) Kennedy-Ford

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith!

Irene Elizabeth Kennedy-Ford, 87 of Mechanicsburg went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, March 19th, 2026. She slipped away peacefully in her sleep as she left her earthly home to her eternal home in heaven.

   She was born on her parent’s farm near Dillsburg, PA daughter of the late Paul Daniel Wonders and Thressa Elizabeth (Klugh) Wonders.

   Irene was the pillar in her family. She loved the Lord with all her heart, played the piano and accordion by ear and loved the old hymns of the church. She enjoyed a good Hallmark movie (especially the kiss at the end), a good scrabble game, jigsaw puzzles, baking goodies for neighbors and friends, tea parties with great granddaughters, gardening and just the love of life.

   She spent most of her life as a homemaker and later worked at Messiah Village and in home healthcare.

   She was the widow of H. Robert Kennedy with 38 years of marriage and preceded in death by stepdaughter Debra Smyser.

   She is survived by her husband, Gary Ford, son Jeffrey Beamer (Elaine), Debra Emlet (Gary), Judy Cline (Rich), stepson, Steve Kennedy (Sue), stepdaughters, Sherry Hughes (Mark) and Ellen Ryan (Todd).

   Grandchildren: Jason Carroll, Matthew Carroll (Angela), Joshua Emlet (Ashley), David Cline (Hannah), Rachel Garner (Josh), Rebecca Crisafulli (Chris), Janel Donahoe, Stefani Beamer, Shelley Beamer, Cody Beamer. Step-grandchildren: Mike Kennedy (Allison), Kristy Smyser, Alicia Smyser, Robert Smyser (Angie), Kyle Ryan, Brandon Ryan and 28 great grandchildren.

   Preceded in death by 5 brothers,1 sister and survived by two brothers, Ken Wonders (Joan), Larry Wonders (Jan), two sisters Edith Sollenberger and Darlene Emlet.

   Services will be held on Thursday, March 26th, 2026, at the Bowmansdale Church of God 101 East Lisburn Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  A Viewing 10:00 am to 11:00  with the Service at 11:00 and burial immediately following at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery a few miles from the church.

   Luncheon following internment back at the church.
