Jack McGurn Obituary

Our father, Jack M. McGurn, passed away in his sleep early Friday morning, January 19, 2024, at his residence in Dillsburg, PA at the age of 77.

He is survived by his two sons, Christopher and Douglas, along with six grandchildren, and one great- grandchild.

Jack was born in Antwerp, NY in 1946 to Franklin McGurn and Hilda Munro. After graduating high school in 1963, Jack attended RCA Technical School in New York City for two years; followed by a successful career with the National Security Agency in Ft. Meade, MD until his retirement in 1999. In his role, Jack was able to travel the world experiencing England, Germany, Japan and Guam as well as other countries, and cities across the United States. Jack was well decorated for his achievements and served his country well.

Growing up on the outskirts of the Adirondacks, Jack loved everything nature. He originally wanted to attend Paul Smith’s College to become a Forest Ranger, but choose a different path of service. However, Jack’s love of nature and animals stayed with him as he enjoyed hiking, camping, and all things related to water. He liked riding motorcycles, sailing, skiing, and walking his dogs. Jack had a special place in his heart for nature as a result of his exposure and fondness for the Native American culture that he so respected. Jack grew up idolizing TV heroes like the Lone Ranger and Cisco Kid. He also enjoyed watching Western movies with heroes like John Wayne and Clint Eastwood.

Jack’s sons plan to take his ashes to upstate New York.
