James C. Byers, 88, of Dillsburg passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the U.P.M.C. Carlisle Medical Center.
Jim was born May 7, 1935, in Shiremanstown, PA the son of the late Galen and Bertha (Eichelberger) Byers.
He was the widow of Phyllis J. (Schmuck) Byers.
Jim was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School, class of 1954 and then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was retired from the I.B.M. Corp and was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dillsburg.
He is survived by three daughters, Denise Thomma of Fairfax Station, VA, Cheryl Bednar of Titusville, FL, Joan Fullard of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren, Jack Thomma, Jim Thomma, Ryan Thomma, Corey Fullard, Melissa Fullard; two step-children, Jeffrey Brough of Lewisberry and Sherry Hejmanowski; four step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 11:00 am in his church, St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 South Baltimore St., Dillsburg. A visitation will be held from 10-11 am prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be held in the Dillsburg Cemetery-Mountain Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church, St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 South Baltimore St., Dillsburg, PA 17019.
