James Earl Horvath

James E. Horvath, 74, of Dover, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023 with his family by his side.

   He was born on February 11th, 1949 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Sigmund Joseph, Sr. and Janet Marie Owen Horvath.

   Jim was the owner of J&J Auto Sales, East Berlin, PA which was formerly in Dillsburg and Harrisburg, PA for 38 years until his retirement in 2011.  He also previously operated Jim’s Esso, Jim’s Texaco and Jim’s Exxon, all of Harrisburg, PA.

   He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Juanita M. Rutters Horvath.  His sons:  James E. Horvath, Jr. and his companion, Wanda Knights, of York and Joseph C. Horvath and his wife, Erica, of Dover.  His sister and brother, Sigrid Hockenberry and Sigmund J. Horvath, Jr., both of New Bloomfield.  His brother-in-law, David Aquillard, of Gardners.  His grandchildren:  James Michael Horvath, Nolan Richard Horvath and Daphne Eileen Horvath.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Cindy Horvath Aquillard. 

   A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, August 30th, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Dillsburg Cemetery – Mountain Road, Dillsburg, PA with the Reverend Tim Brown, officiating.

   In lieu of flowers, it was Jim’s greatest wish for blood to be donated in his honor to be used by those with needs.  Memorial contributions can also be made to Penn State University, Office of University Development, 1249 Cocoa Ave, Suite 115, PO Box 852, Hershey, PA 17033-0852.
