Jamey Guise Obituary

Jamey Shawn Guise, 55, of Dillsburg, PA, left this world on December 2, 2025, with the same strength and courage with which he lived in it. The youngest of four children, Jamey was born on April 11, 1970, in Johnstown, PA. He approached life and friendship with endless humor. For anyone lucky enough to know him, Jamey will be remembered for his infectious laugh, long-talking “accent,” and unmistakable baby-blue eyes.

Jamey is a 1989 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School and graduate of Pennsylvania College of Technology with an Airplane and Powerplant Mechanic license.  Jamey took his greatest pride in his profession as an aircraft mechanic, beginning and ending his career as the Director of Maintenance for MI Windows and Doors for over 27 years. He was an impressive wealth of aviation knowledge. His phone rang every day, at all hours, to troubleshoot technical issues or simply talk about nothing in particular. Always willing to lend a hand, he answered every call. He kept the airplanes pristine, paying particular attention to those leading edges. He will be deeply missed by his aviation family, who were his lifelong friends and mentors.

Jamey’s passion for airplanes was remarkable, but he was most alive outdoors fishing, biking, and especially alpine skiing. He was the first to call when it started to snow, to announce when the mountain was opening, or to alert you when a good storm was coming. He would drive through three feet of snow to pick up a friend and get them to the mountain safely without hesitation.

To many, Jamey appeared to be a quiet man… until he wasn’t. You always knew exactly what he thought, good or bad. His quick-witted humor could catch you off guard and leave you laughing. His laugh could make you laugh, even if you didn’t know what he was laughing about. He loved a good practical joke and pulled some of the best with a twinkle in his eye. He could tell stories for hours, never repeating one, and leave a room full of people belly-laughing until it hurt.

Jamey is survived by his best friend, lifelong ski partner, and loving wife of 11 years, Missy Simpson, who held his hand with gratitude until the end. He is also survived by their four daughters and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his hero and father, Harry Guise, and is survived by his mother and trusted pillar, Margaret Kushner Guise; his big brother, Brian Guise; his two older sisters, Sue Ann Hancock and Karen Guise; and many nieces and nephews.

Jamey’s life was defined by hard work, tenacity, persistence, and generosity of time. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and could fix everything his wife broke. He earned everything he had. He never expected recognition but valued even the smallest gift or token of thanks with genuine gratitude. He wore his heart on his sleeve, and if you were lucky enough to be loved by him, you never doubted that your happiness mattered more to him than his own. This, above all else, is the piece his wife will carry forever.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. and a service at 2:00 p.m. at Cocklin Funeral Home, 30 North Chestnut Street, Dillsburg, PA.
