Jeffrey Speese Obituary

Jeffrey J. Speese, 59, of Dillsburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 26th, 2021, at UPMC Harrisburg with his loving wife by his side.

Jeffrey was born on June 27th, 1962, at Harrisburg Hospital to Gilbert L. Speese and Dolores A. (Harris) Speese. He grew up in Rutherford, later moved to York Springs, and graduated from Bermudian Springs High School in 1980. He went on to get his Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology at Thompson Institute in 1989 and completed his education at Liberty University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Religion.

Jeff served with the United States Air Force Reserve from 1980 to 1986 when he was honorably discharged. Aside from his military training in special vehicle mechanics, his professional career included plant manager and small business owner. Most recently he worked as a project manager at the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. Although Jeff enjoyed his vocations, his true devotion was his family.

Jeff’s greatest joy was his wife Gigi of 37 years, and his four children: Derek, Allison (“Pepper”), Carly, and Brandon. Jeff had a giving heart, a great sense of humor, and contagious laugh. He was selfless with his time, generous with his love, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Jeff gave his life to Christ in 1993. He attended several churches over the years and served as deacon, elder, and small group leader. He also enjoyed being a drummer in the praise team.

Jeff enjoyed many outdoor hobbies especially hunting with his sons and camping with his family. He loved the simple things in life like sitting by the campfire, playing fetch with his dog Nikki, and working with his hands.

Jeff was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his sister, Karen (Speese) Ourand and brother-in-law, John Ourand.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Gigi and children: Derek Speese (wife Leah), Pepper Speese, Carly Speese, Brandon Speese, and puppy Nikki. He is also survived by brother David Speese (wife Vicki) and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held by the Speese family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his father’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
