Joan I. (Henry) Hess

Joan I. (Henry) Hess, 83, of Dillsburg, passed away Thursday morning, May 21st, 2026 at her home.

   She was born Saturday, October 17th, 1942 in Franklintown, Washington Township, York County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Benjamin A. and Ethel I. Weigle Henry. 

   Joan and her husband Norman, were the owner/operators of Hess Service Station, of Dillsburg for over 33 years.  She was also a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Franklintown and it’s Choir.  Joan was also a member of the Good News Gospel Group for over 50 years.

   She was the widow of the late Norman L. Hess.

   Joan is survived by her beloved children, Steven L. Hess and his fiancé, Jolene Lee, of Lincoln, NE and Susan I. Rochette (Robert), of Dillsburg.  Close Family Friends: Charles L. Yeagy and Brett Neidig.  Her brother, Ronald L. Henry and his wife Linda, of Dillsburg.  Her sister-in-law, Leah Henry, of Dillsburg.  Her grandchildren:  Adam and Emily Rochette and Abbey Hess along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters: Marlin E. Henry, Phyllis E. Kuykendall, Richard Henry, Robert Henry and Sharon Henry.   

   Services will be held Tuesday, May 26th, 2026 at 11:00 am in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut Street, Dillsburg, PA.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.  Burial alongside her husband will be in the Dillsburg Cemetery – Mountain Road.
