Joan M. (Renard) Junkins

Joan M. Junkins, 77, of Mechanicsburg passed away Friday, December 22, 2023, at the U.P.M.C. West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg.

Joan was born October 11, 1946, in Mechanicsburg the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Elizabeth (Heffelfinger) Renard.

Joan was a former bookkeeper for Akens Engineering Associates, Inc., in Shiremanstown and retired as a floral assistant at Giants Foods at the Cumberland Parkway store. 

She was a member of the Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg and the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association. Joan enjoyed going to local fire company festivals, knitting, spending time in the outdoors and especially going to the grandchildren's sporting events and concerts.

Joan is survived by her husband, Paul E. Junkins, Jr.; one son, Alan P. Junkins (Kara) of Dillsburg; one daughter, Jennifer L. Smithmyer (Andrew) of York Haven; three siblings, June Shutt of York, Jane Bishop of Mechanicsburg, John Renard of Dillsburg; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Joseph, Claire and two step-grandchildren, Wyatt and Tavin. Joan was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Renard.

Services will be held Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11:00 am in her church, Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, 1934 South York Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  A visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8 pm at the church and again on Friday from 10-11 am prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church.
