Joanne Ivey Obituary

Joanne F. Ivey, 85, of Dillsburg passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023, at her home.

   She was born April 3, 1938, in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Robert C.  Fest, Jr. and Miana Ruth (Somers) Fest.

   Joanne was a graduate of Southern Lehigh High School in Center Valley, PA and Elizabethtown College. She began her career as a Medical Secretary and was employed by Drs. Charles Worrell and David Bronstein. Joanne then went on to obtain her license in Property and Casualty Insurance and worked in her husbands independent insurance agency for 20 years. 

   Joanne was a member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg. She volunteered for many years at the United Methodist Thrift Shop in Dillsburg. Joanne was a talented quilter, avid reader and loved to travel, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. 

   She is survived by her husband, of 62 years, Doyle W. Ivey, Jr.; three daughters, Susan Reday and her husband Louis Reday, Jr., Lauren Dion and her husband Timothy Dion, Patricia Ivey and her husband Donald Schroeder; her grandchildren, Leah Conrad and her husband Drew Conrad, Sara Reday, Elizabeth Dion and Andrew Dion; one brother, Robert C. Fest, III; and two nieces, Ryan Diehl and Anne DeFrehn.

   Services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11:00 am in her church, Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, 1934 South York Street., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. A visitation will be held Saturday from 10-11 am, one hour prior to the service, at the church. A private burial will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery.
