John Richard Fishel, Sr., 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, on Friday, March 27th, 2026.
Born on Thursday, September 18th, 1947, and raised in Patton, Pennsylvania, John was the beloved son of Clara and Dick Fishel and brother to his late sibling, Gene Fishel.
As a teenager, John moved to Riverdale, Maryland, where he became neighbors with his eventual best friend and lifelong love, his caring wife of 60 years, Lena Dianne.
John was a supportive and devoted father to his three children: John Richard Jr., Leslie Arlene, and Clinton Michael Fishel. He was also a proud and loving grandfather to seven grandchildren Jenna, Camden, Julia, Johnathan, Delaney, Jocelyn, and Jacy, each of whom he loved immensely.
John dedicated over 20 years of service as a firefighter, courageously responding to more than 1,200 fires throughout his career.
Following his time in the fire service, John built a long and respected career in the trucking industry, spanning more than two decades.
John will be remembered for his strength, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the people he protected, and the family he built and cherished.
We know John is playing spades, grilling steaks, and enjoying a WhistlePig old fashioned on the other side with his loved ones. And oh yeah, cruising his Ford Galaxy 409!!!
He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the gift of knowing him.
~ We love you, Papa!! ~
