John R. McKissick

   It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John R. McKissick on February 28, 2024, in Dillsburg, PA.

   A son of Lloyd Allen and Sara Davis McKissick Sr., he was born on June 8, 1935, in Polk, Pennsylvania.

   Attending Penn State where he obtained his degree in engineering and joined the ROTC, John would go on to work for the state of Pennsylvania and serve in the US Airforce and National Guard retiring a Lieutenant Colonel.

   An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, boating and country western music.

   Preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years, Elaine Stroup, they spent many winters as “snowbirds” in Cocoa Beach Florida with their friends at Royal Towers.

   His brothers, Lloyd Allen Jr (Muriel), Paul, and stepson Troy Cole also preceded him in death.

   John is survived by his son John (Carol) McKissick II and daughter Deborah (Rodney) Hogan; Stepdaughters Heather Cole, Tania Cole, and Meghan Cole; Sister-in-law Sally McKissick; Grandchildren (Derick, Ryan, Sean, Meredith, & Skylar); and 4 great grandchildren (Molly, Stella, Connor & Chloe).

   Memorial services will be held privately in Polk Pennsylvania.
