Kenneth William Wenger, 73, of Dillsburg, PA, passed away at home surrounded by his family on May 16, 2023 after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.
Ken was born on March 2, 1950, to Opal M.(Eichelberger) and Kenneth L. Wenger. Ken was a Dillsburg native, graduating from Northern High school and then from Shippensburg University. He was employed for 35 years by the Northern York School District, first as an elementary school teacher and then as a Middle School guidance counselor. Ken was an avid sports fan. He coached both wrestling and football at Northern, where he enjoyed several successful seasons. Another one of Ken’s passions was dirt track (Sprint Car) racing. He dedicated many years to Eichelberger racing, assisting on the pit crew of his cousin’s car and attending races every weekend.
Although Ken enjoyed his hobbies, his family was his most valued achievement. He is survived by his wife, Pam, children: Tara (Adam) Ostinowsky, Justin Wenger, Brandon Wenger , and Travis Wenger, his grandchildren: Sophia, Dylan, Josie, and Abram, his brother, Ron (Vickie) Wenger, and nephews, Jared and Trevor Wenger. He devoted his retirement to babysitting all of his beloved grandchildren, going to their many events, and making sure they knew they were deeply loved.
The family will be holding a private ceremony for Ken at the Dillsburg Cemetery. If you feel inclined, donations in his memory can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.
