Lloyd R. Sowers

Lloyd R. Sowers, 86, of Dillsburg, passed away Saturday morning, August 3rd, 2024, at his home with his family.

   He was born Tuesday, August 2nd, 1938 in Dillsburg, York County, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Lloyd J. & Sara Graham Sowers. 

   Lloyd was a life-long Farmer and was a heavy equipment operator for L&W Demolition for over 40 years.  He attended Dillsburg Brethren in Christ Church, he was on the Monaghan Township Board of Supervisors for 12 years and was a member and Assistant Fire Chief of Monaghan Township Fire Company for 14 years.

   Lloyd is the widower of the late Janet E. Evans Sowers.

   He is survived by his loving family, his sons:  David L. Sowers and his wife, Cathy, of Carlisle and Timothy J. Sowers and his wife, Melody, of Dillsburg.  His daughter:  Melissa M. Sowers, of Fredericksburg, VA.  His sisters:  Gloria Deihl, of Carlisle and Sharon Hammaker, of Clarks Summit.  4 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren. 

   Services will be held Thursday, August 8th, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut Street, Dillsburg, PA with the Reverend Jim Spurrier, officiating.  Burial will be held in the Filey’s Cemetery, Dillsburg.  A visitation will be held Thursday, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
