Margaret J. (Myers) McCurdy

Margaret J. McCurdy, age 88, of Mechanicsburg, PA, died Friday, November 18, 2022, at her home in Messiah Village. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth E. McCurdy. High school sweethearts and Dillsburg, PA, natives, they were married for fifty-nine years before Ken passed in 2016.

Born March 6, 1934, in Dillsburg, PA, she was one of thirteen children of the late Charles F. Myers and Clarissa J. (Deckman) Myers. Earning her high school degree from Dillsburg High School, and following her marriage to Ken, Margaret worked as a secretary in Philadelphia, as Ken earned his civil engineering degree at Drexel University. They relocated to the Pittsburgh area in 1962, where they raised their three children. They also lived in Westchester County for over a decade, before retiring to Woodloch Springs in the Pocono mountains. Margaret lived in Messiah Village for the past four years, where she made many friends and engaged in a wide range of activities.

Margaret had a wonderful sense of humor, a sharp but kind wit, and was known for bringing joy to all those around her. She was an active church member and volunteer in all of her communities. She enjoyed baking for her children and grandchildren and was a loyal follower of UConn women’s basketball and Penn State football. An avid and skilled game player, she particularly loved playing daily games with friends and family.

Margaret is survived by her children: Michael E. McCurdy and his wife Maggie of Middleburg Heights, OH, Jeffrey A. McCurdy and his wife Barbara of Bethesda, MD, and Jodi M. Eskin and her husband Neal of Tolland, CT; her grandchildren: Kenneth McCurdy and his wife Jessica, Mary Kate Williams and her husband Tom, Matthew McCurdy, Michael McCurdy, Jane McCurdy, Benjamin Eskin and Adam Eskin; her brothers: Jack Myers, Herb Myers, and Leroy Myers, and her sister Ruth Fetterhoff.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 26, at 3:00 p.m. at Cocklin Funeral Home, 30 North Chestnut St., Dillsburg, PA, with a visitation prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Dillsburg Cemetery.
