Margretta Frey Obituary

Margretta Belle Frey (Hay) of East Berlin, PA went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, December 7, 2025.  She was surrounded by her sons and family at home.

Margretta (Peggy) was the wife of the late Warren M. Frey.  She is survived by her three sons; David and Mary Jane (Guion) of Florida, Larry and Gwen (Shermeyer) of Dillsburg, Scott and Sheila (Lerew) of Dillsburg; nine grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her brothers Jim and Dorris (Bud) Hay and her sister Florence.  Her sister Millie Grey lives in Saxonburg, PA.

Margretta was born March 17, 1928 in Saxonburg, PA to Ralph and Alice (Hilton) Hay.  She attended Penn State University and majored in Home Economics.  There she met Warren and they were married September 1, 1951 and were married for 60 years.  She taught Home Economics at Hanover High School for many years.  After retiring she loved to spend her time in the family flower gardens with Warren and serving as a volunteer in the East Berlin and Dillsburg Thrift Shops.  She and Warren were active in the East Berlin Community Center and organized many Garden Tours and opened their own garden for many to enjoy.

She loved her family, working in her gardens and sharing the plants with anyone who would take them.  Most of all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and looked for ways to help others.  She viewed each day as a blessing from God.

A service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Hope Grace Church, 110 Old York Rd., Dillsburg, PA  17019.  The family will be available to receive guests at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.  The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.  A luncheon will follow the service at the church.  All friends and family are welcome to stay.
