Marlene Blough Obituary

Marlene E. Blough, 87, of Dillsburg, PA passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the UPMC Harrisburg Hospital.

She was born Friday, May 6, 1938, in Dillsburg, PA the daughter of the late Kenneth V. and Helen E. (Detter) Fogle and Graduated from Northern High School. She was very active in her church, having served as a Sunday School Teacher, Organist (having also taught several friends how to play the piano) and held various other positions in the church and Sunday School Association.  Marlene had also served as Youth President of the York County Sabbath Sunday School Association.

After graduating from High School, Malene worked at Bell Telephone Company, she was working here when she met her future husband.  After she and Robert married, she worked at Bell for several more years until December 1964 when she and Bob started their family and she became a full time housewife and mother.  Having 3 children in 4 years, she was busy but still found time to make clothing for family as well as enjoying gardening. As her children grew older, she became a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Girl Scout Cadette Leader and Co-chairperson for 2 years for the Wellsville Elementary School PTA May Fair.  She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Dillsburg and over the years continued as an organist for several different churches and sang in her church choir.  Marlene reentered the work force to help with her children's college education working several part time jobs until going back to work full time for the Commonwealth of PA  in the Labor & Industry Department, working there for 18 years and retiring as a Supervisor in July of 1998.  After vacationing in Hawaii and Alaska, Marlene and Robert were bitten by the "Traveling Bug".  They became members of the Good Sam Camping Club and traveled extensively by motor home eventually fulfilling the dream of visiting ALL 50 states in the US, part of Canada and obtaining many wonderful friends along the way.  Marlene and Robert had to give up traveling in 2014 when Robert was diagnosed with cancer.  They sold the motor home and once again she became a full time housewife.  Living daily with her strong faith in God, she was not only a loving wife, but showed her love for her children and grandchildren in any way possible.

Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert E. Blough; two sons, Michael E. Blough (Julia Hobart) of Allentown, David A. Blough (Shelly) of Mountville; one daughter, Michelle E. Hain (Russel) of Waynesboro; one brother, Carl L. Fogle of Annapolis, MD; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty J. Whisler.
