Martin Gene “Butch” Popola, 75, of Dillsburg, passed away Sunday morning, March 27, 2022 at his home.
He was born July 31, 1946 in Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, the only child of the late Martin S. and Wilma M. Valla Popola.
Marty graduated from Joliet Township High School, class of 1964 and Joliet Junior College, class of 1967. He also attended Western Kentucky University. In January of 1973, Martin stared working for the PA Department of Transportation as a Cartographic Draftsman and retired from PennDOT as a Cartographic Manager after 33 years of service.
He enjoyed traveling and had been on several cruises, visiting 22 countries and 50 states. He coached and was an Officer for the Dillsburg Little League Baseball for 6 years. He also enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Golf, Bowling, Sports Car Clubs, Motorcycles, Geocaching and Munzee gaming.
Marty is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara R. (Hammel) Popola. His daughter, Pollyanna Bergseng and her husband, Riley, of Midway, Utah. His son, Michael Popola, of Camp Hill, PA. His grandchildren, Jack James and Silas Martin Bergseng.
