Mary (Chedester) Drury

Mary Chedester Drury, 97 years,  of Orrtanna, PA passed away Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026, at her home.

   Mary was born in Tunnelton, WV on August 6th, 1928 the daughter of the late David F. and Elma E. (Metheny) Chedester. 

   She was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Castle of Tunnelton, WV, Maxine Tresino of Massillon, OH, Opal Sperandio of Kingwook, WV. Mary had four children, David (deceased), James Michael with whom she lived, Rochelle Taylor (Ray, deceased), and Susan (Glen). She also had four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Mary also had many nephews and nieces.

   Mary loved the outdoors and in her later years hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. She belonged to a hiking club and was a huge supporter of the Appalachian Trail and worked at the office in Boiling Springs volunteering her time to assist other hikers. She loved to travel and see new sights and was an artist. Mary would paint from the photos she took on her travels.

   She was an independent private woman. Mary loved her family fiercely and will be greatly missed. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
