Mary Alice Smeltzer, 87, of York, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026.

She was born on Monday, September 5th, 1938, in Lewisberry, the daughter of the late Gerald and Gladys (Basye) Lefever.

Mary retired from the Hanover School District, where she touched many lives as a school nurse. She was a dedicated member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Dover, the White Rose Square Dancers, and the White Rose #360 Order of Eastern Star. She was a proud graduate of Northern High School, class of 1956, and went on to earn degrees from the York Hospital School of Nursing and Shippensburg University.

Mary loved being active in her community and hosting loved ones. She looked forward to playing cards with her card club, volunteering at her church, and decorating beautifully for the holidays. She cherished spending time with her family at the beach, taking trips to Maine, visiting the family hunting camp, Five Star Two, hosting vibrant family parties and get-togethers, and the love of her dogs.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Grafton LeRoy Smeltzer.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald Damon Smeltzer and his fiancé' Lisa VanMeter of Center Valley, and Brian LeRoy Smeltzer and his wife Michelle of Collegeville; three grandchildren, Shayna Smeltzer, Morgan Zampelli and her husband Taylor, and Patrick LeRoy Smeltzer; and one great-grandchild, Arya. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Peffer (Lefever) of Dillsburg, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews.
