Michael Dennis Bowen

Michael D. Bowen, 80, of Mechanicsburg passed away Friday, June 27th, 2025. 

He was born October 30, 1944, the son of the late Merle and Frances (Bradley) Bowen. 

Mike was a graduate of Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School, class of 1962.   After graduation, Mike joined the Air Force.  Stationed in Tacoma, Washington, Mike served his country overseas in Thailand from 1964-1967.   Mike then spent his career with IBM where he retired after 25 years of employment. He spent many years enjoying retirement in Emerald Isle, NC before returning to PA in 2021.  

He had a strong love of sports.  He played baseball and basketball in High School and coached little and teen league baseball.  He enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the LA Dodgers, Notre Dame and the Boston Celtics.  

Mike, “Pappy”, is survived by his wife of 60 years, Francine (Koser) Bowen , two children, Christopher Bowen (Jill) and Carrie Bowen Hemler (Thomas), one brother, Patrick Bowen of Tom’s River, five grandchildren, Christopher Bowen, Zachary Hemler, Maggie Hemler, Kyle Bowen, Katie Hemler, and Mitchell Fickes; and two great- grandchildren, Hailey and Nolan Bowen.   

Burial with full military honors will be held on August 13, 2025 at 11:30 am in the Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
