Michael John Hertweck

Michael John Hertweck, aged 83, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Messiah Lifeways in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Born on November 25, 1942, in York, PA, Michael was the son of the late George C. and Astrid J. (Unger) Hertweck.

He was a devoted husband to the late Sandra K. (McCurdy) Hertweck.

Michael was a graduate of Northern High School, class of 1960. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University in 1964. His professional career spanned several decades, during which he made significant contributions while working at Capitol Engineering in Dillsburg, Batsch SpectraComp in Mechanicsburg, and PennDot in Harrisburg.

Michael was a proud member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, PA Lambda Chapter during his college years.

Beyond his professional achievements, Michael was an avid golfer, often found on the greens at Range End Country Club in Dillsburg, where he served as a ranger. His love for sports extended to his unwavering support for Penn State athletics, and his attendance at his granddaughters' volleyball games and dance performances. Mike's favorite getaway was Aruba, where he created cherished memories with Sandy.

He is survived by his two children, Denise M. (Hertweck) Swenson and her husband Alan of Collegeville, and Bryan M. Hertweck of Albuquerque, NM; and  three granddaughters: Josie Swenson, Carly Swenson, and Meredith Hertweck. He is also survived by three siblings: Christine Seppi of Gibsonia, Joanna McClure of Lebanon, and Peter Hertweck of Dillsburg.

In honor of Michael's life, private family services will be held at their convenience.
