Nancy Jane (Burkholder) Hunsberger

Nancy Jane (Burkholder) Hunsberger, age 97, of Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Messiah Village.

She was born September 19, 1925, in Greene Township, Franklin County, PA, the daughter of the late Rev. Daniel and Mary (Byers) Burkholder.  She was a 1944 graduate of Chambersburg High School.  She then worked for 20 years as an Administrative Assistant for T.K. Nitterhouse, the President of Nitterhouse Concrete Products in Chambersburg.  Nancy volunteered as Secretary for Gospel Tide Hour.  She worked as a personal secretary to Charlie B. Byers at various intervals. 

In 1964 Nancy married J. Harold Hunsberger and moved to Montgomery County, PA.  She worked for 20 years as a Secretary for Jacob H. Bowers, Inc. in Collegeville, PA.  After the death of her husband in 1993, she moved to Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, PA in 1994.  She was a member of the Messiah Village Brethren in Christ Church and served as Secretary for the church board.  She was Treasurer for the World Prayer Team.

Nancy is survived by her step-daughter, Joan R. Hensel of Souderton; two step-grandchildren, Jeffrey (Katie) Hensel, Christian (Lisa) Hensel; three step-great-grandsons, Logan, Micah, and Elijah Hensel; nine nieces and nephews, Lucy (Mark) Johnson, Goldie (Konrad) Oberholser, Leon (Robin) Burkholder, Evan (Lori) Burkholder, Stanley (Janice) Burkholder, Karen (Harold) Wildeson, Kay (Kevin) Wenger, Sharon (Millard) Engle, Kermit (Sheila) Burkholder and numerous great-nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her step-son, John H. Hunsberger; three brothers, Alfred B. Burkholder, J. Wilbur Burkholder, Asa D. Burkholder; and her niece, Elaine Lehman.  She loved her entire family, her cousins and her friends.

Services will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, 7041 Cumberland Hwy, Chambersburg, Pa.  17202.  Pastor Ron Slabaugh will officiate.  A viewing will be held Wednesday from 12:00-1:00pm at the church.  Burial will be held in the Air Hill Cemetery.  A fellowship meal will be held following the burial. The service will be livestreamed on YouTube.com, enter Air Hill Church.
