Surrounded by her family, Patsy L. Myers died peacefully at her home in Dillsburg on August 10, 2021.
Patsy was the youngest of four children born to Kenneth and Althea Miller (Noland). Born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania on July 14, 1937, Patsy grew up in Harrisburg and then moved to Dillsburg where she lived since 1960. She is predeceased by her oldest sister, Shirley Oxenrider, and her older brother, Kenneth (Bud) Miller. Her sister, Jean Zimmerman, lives in Millersburg and was a wonderful ‘big sissy’ until the very end.
Patsy graduated from John Harris High School in 1955 and then went to Chicago to complete airline training school. She was a stewardess for TWA and Allegheny Airlines. She was introduced to the love of her life, Thomas Myers of Dillsburg, on a blind date and the two were married in 1960. Patsy and her husband, along with George and Dorothy Myers, were co-owners of Myers Nursery and Landscaping in Dillsburg. Patsy helped manage the business. Patsy was always full of energy and ran a tight ship. She was an avid bowler at Trindle Lanes where she played in several leagues. Patsy also enjoyed playing cards, going to the beach, and was a champion tennis player. She and Tom were huge Penn State football fans and had season tickets for many years; she talked about sitting in Beaver Stadium watching Rip Engle coach the Blue and White. Many will also recall seeing Patsy walking all over Dillsburg with her BFF, Sandy Lowery.
In her later years, Patsy was a very involved grandmother who looked forward to spoiling each of her seven grandchildren. She frequently attended sporting events and special activities that her grandchildren were involved with.
Patsy is survived by her three children: Kelli Gottemoller (Peter) of Glenside, PA, Stacey Mooney (Herb) of Palm Harbor, FL, and Thomas J. Myers (Jodi) of Dillsburg. She also has seven grandchildren: Andrea Spruell (Kaleb) of Bremen, Georgia, Nicholas Gottemoller of Glenside, PA, Cameron Myers of Dillsburg, PA, Alayna Gottemoller of Glenside, PA, Mya Mooney of Palm Harbor, FL, Zachary Gottemoller of Glenside, PA, and Aidan Mooney of Palm Harbor, FL. She is predeceased by her husband of 47 years (Thomas Yohe Myers), her oldest sister, her brother, and infant son, Joel Edward Myers. Patsy was active with several ‘lunch groups’ of friends who graduated with Tom, her own John Harris High School group, and folks who lived in Carroll Villages senior community. She also served faithfully as a deacon at Monaghan Presbyterian Church in Dillsburg where she was a long-standing member. She was especially proud of her volunteer work with her local state representatives’ office (Perry, Regan, and Keefer).
A public viewing will be held at Cocklin’s Funeral Home, 30 N. Chestnut Street, Dillsburg, PA 17019 on Friday, August 20 from 6:30-8:30 pm. A funeral service will be held at Monaghan Presbyterian Church, 1185 Gettysburg Pike, Dillsburg, PA on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11 a.m with interment at the Dillsburg Cemetery immediately following.
