Paul A. Souder

Paul “Sam” Arthur Souder 78, of Dillsburg PA went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Paul was born November 26, 1944 in Carlisle, PA, to the late Arthur D. and Dorothy L. Tanger Souder.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alyene Billman Souder, one daughter, Jennifer Souder Richard of Dillsburg, one granddaughter, Eliza Richard Roper (Stephen) of TN, 2 grandsons, Lucas and Christopher Grabiec of Dillsburg and one sister, Susan Souder Abada (Anthony) of SC.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and a grandson.

Paul was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School class of 1962.  After graduation he served in the US  Navy.  He worked driving truck for Drydene Oil Co. and retired from Penn DOT as a Bridge Inspector. Paul loved making many flavors of homemade ice cream, doing leather work, being outdoors, gardening, mowing grass and being at his cabin in Ickesburg, PA. He enjoyed his family and teaching his grandsons to mow grass with his zero-turn mower. He also enjoyed reading his Bible and sharing his faith in Jesus Christ with others.

A celebration of life will be on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Carlisle Fire and Rescue, 177 Carlisle Springs Road, Carlisle, PA. Visitation is scheduled for 10:00 AM, service beginning at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow.
