Paul Eugene Wickey

Paul E. Wickey, 68, Dillsburg, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024. He was the son of the late Walter and Beverly (Blazier) Wickey and a graduate of Northern York HS, WVU Potomac State, and the Penn State certificate program in Turfgrass Management.

Paul is survived by his wife Carol (Bittner); four children: Brandon (Erin) Wickey of Georgetown KY, Julia (Edward) Carskadon of Harrisburg, Anne (Chad) Brown of Mechanicsburg, Josiah (Cora) Wickey of Mechanicsburg; and 12 grandchildren: Allegra Hall, Aceline Wickey, Brenna Wickey, Ayrton Hall, Connor Wickey, Brayden Wickey, Jena Lowry, Ava Wickey, Addison Wickey, Annabelle Lowry, Silas Brown, and Ruby Wickey. He loved being involved in his children’s activities as they were growing up and spending special times with the family, especially at the beach.

Paul loved golf and began working on the Range End grounds crew as a teen and later at West Shore CC. He served as the golf course superintendent at Somerset CC before shifting to a position in sales of turf products. He was an employee of Genesis Turfgrass in Glen Rock. Many of the highlights of his life were on the golf course, including a hole in one while playing on his high school golf team, playing with Arnold Palmer at Latrobe, and playing at Augusta National.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 11, at Daybreak Church at 321 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg PA, at 11AM.  A light lunch will be served after the celebration of life.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wee One Foundation (which benefits golf course superintendents who incur large medical expenses) https://weeone.org/
