Rhonda R. (Hinton) Proctor

Rhonda Ruth (Hinton) Proctor, 71, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on August 1, 2022 at Swaim Health Center at Green Ridge Village in Newville, Pa.  She was born on June 16, 1951 in Yale, Michigan, the daughter of the late Benjamin Hinton and Ruth Lucille Steenbergh Hinton Rumsey. 

     She is survived by her spouse of 51 years, Stephen Earl Proctor, her children Michelle Klaproth and her husband (Dan) of West Pittston, Pa., Eric Stephen Proctor and his wife (Arianne) of Harrisburg, Pa., and daughter Crystal Hand and husband (Kevin) of Newville, Pa., siblings Fred Hinton, of Redlands, California, and Linda Griffin of Benzonia, Michigan, and grandchildren Ben and Hannah Klaproth, Teagan and Rianna Proctor, and Luke and Samantha Hand.

     Rhonda was a 1969 graduate of Yale High School in Yale, Michigan, 1971 graduate of the LPN program of St. Clair County Community College, and a 1989 graduate of the RN program of Harrisburg Area Community College.  She worked as a nurse in long term care and acute care settings and with Dr. Frank and Wilson Jackson at West Shore Endoscopy Center in Camp Hill. 

     Rhonda’s life was marked by a deep faith in God, and devotion to her family.  She was a member of West Shore Evangelical Free Church, Mechanicsburg, serving for a number of years in the Women’s Ministry program.  In addition to medical / dental mission trips to Honduras, she was active with Forgotten Voices International, a ministry serving orphans and vulnerable children in Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Malawi, traveling to Africa in 2015.  She and her husband, Steve, lived in Dillsburg, Pa from 1979 until his retirement in 2019, when they moved to Fort Myers, Florida.  In 2022 they returned to Mechanicsburg, Pa.

   Funeral arrangements are being made by Cocklin’s Funeral Home, Inc., in Dillsburg, with a visitation on Friday August 5th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home, 30 N. Chestnut Street, Dillsburg, PA  17019.  A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 6th at West Shore Evangelical Free Church, 1345 Williams Grove Road, Mechanicsburg, Pa  17055.
