Richard Cobb Obituary

Richard E. Cobb, 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Richard was born on May 27, 1954 in Williamsport, PA. He was raised by his loving great-aunt, Inez Brown. Richard lived the first 55 years of his life in Williamsport and then relocated to Middletown, PA, and finally, to Dillsburg, PA.

Richard is survived by Jeffrey Swope, with whom he shared 18 years as partners and nearly 33 years as dear friends. Jeff’s family became Richard’s found family, adding to his already extensive family that includes his son and his grandchildren. Richard was close to several of his cousins, but shared a deep and lasting relationship with his cousins, Regina Bridges and Michelle (Bud) Butler. They spent many hours on the phone laughing and loving one another. He is also survived by his much-loved dog, Davey – his special buddy - who will be lost without him.

Richard began working at the age of 14 and worked for many years for NAPA Auto Parts, A&A Auto Stores, AutoZone, and finally, Home Depot. In each of these places he made lasting friendships with many of his co-workers. To know Richard was to love him, and he was deeply loved. Richard was a gentle soul with a wicked sense of humor and infectious smile. He was loyal to the end. Richard was a bright light in this world and, for those who knew and loved him, the world will be dimmer with his passing.

Richard wished to be cremated and his ashes will be placed in Jeff’s casket in the Dillsburg Cemetery – Golf Course Road when he passes so that they can continue their friendship and watch out for each other for eternity. Instead of a formal service Richard hopes that those who knew him will spend time together in their own ways celebrating each other.

In lieu of flowers, Richard requests that you make any donations to a charity that is important and meaningful to you.
