Richard Frederick Delaware

Richard Frederick Delaware, 85, of Dillsburg passed away Monday, March 13, 2023, at his home.

     He was born February 27, 1938, in Augusta, Maine the son of the late Roland and Annette (Michaud) Delaware.

     After completing high school Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War.  Richard was a retired Construction Supervisor for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of General Services. 

     He was a member of the Hope Grace Brethren Church, Carlisle V.F.W., Post #447, and the Dillsburg American Legion Post #26.

     Richard is survived by his wife Wendolyn "Wendie " K. (Smith) Delaware; four daughters, Christine Alvarez (Phil) of Missouri, Kelly Hinton (Steve) of Mt. Holly Springs, Brandie Pifer (Keith) of York Springs, Sheri Delaware (Barry) of Dover, Eli Delaware (Lauren) of Dillsburg; one brother, Roger Delaware of Massachusetts; eleven grandchildren, Kortnie, Tyler, Kaelynn, Hoyt, Aubrey, Cheyenne, Caleb, Mikey, Sarah, Rachel, Rebecca and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three children, Roland Delaware, Richard Delaware, and Kimberly Donnelly.

     Services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11:00 am at his church, Hope Grace Brethren Church, 110 Old York Rd., Dillsburg, PA. A visitation will be held from 10-11 am prior to the service. Burial with full military honors will be held Monday, March 27, 2023, at 11:00 am in the Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. 

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church, Hope Grace Brethren Church, 110 Old York Rd., Dillsburg, PA 17019.
