Rita J. (Carlson) Felton

Rita J. Felton, 82, of Dover went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the York Hospital.

She was born March 10, 1941, the daughter of the late Gordon and Thressa Elaine (Nosker) Carlson.

Rita operated a dog grooming business for 48 years. 

She was a member of the Good News Free Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg and with her husband lead its Encouragers group. Rita was also a member of the El Shaddai Singers for many years and enjoyed playing in the Gospel Music Jam at the Church of the Open Door in York and  was a founding member of the Safe Harbor Gospel Messengers.  She was a former founding member of the Gospel Sound.

As a child, Rita enjoyed horses and playing baseball. More recently she enjoyed quilting, woodworking, playing the accordion and she especially had a servant's heart.

Rita is survived by her loving husband of 63 years,  David "Daryl" Felton; a son, David Felton and his wife Debra of Dunkirk, NY; a daughter, Rhonda L. Wieder and her husband Darren of Hamburg, NY; two grandchildren, Lauren Vorberger and Jessica Suzano; and five great-grandchildren, Juliana and James and Tristan, Kylar, and Adriel.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 11:00 am in her church, Good News Free Methodist Church, 124 State Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. A visitation will be held from 10-11 am prior to the service.
