Robert C. Baker, 85, of Dillsburg passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022, at his home.
He was born November 23, 1936, in New Bloomfield, PA the son of the late Clarence J. and Blanche (Askins) Baker.
Bob was a graduate of Perry Joint High School Class of 1954 and went on to earn his B.S. Ed in 1959 and his M.Ed. in 1968 both from Shippensburg University. He taught at Northern High School for 31 years where he coached football, baseball, and golf.
As an undergrad at Shippensburg University, Bob earned several varsity letters in both football and baseball; was a member of Phi Sigma Chi fraternity, and the Varsity Club. After graduating Bob was an active member of the Shippensburg University Alumni Association, serving a term as its President.
Bob served as active member of the Dillsburg Lions Club for 47 years serving two terms as its President. He also served as committee chair on multiple committees over the years and was often a board member. In addition, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dillsburg. Bob enjoyed his family, friends, hunting, fishing, golfing and woodcarving.
He is survived by his wife Jane (Lefever) Baker; a son, Robert L. Baker (Catherine); a sister, Patricia Ann Long (David) of Gwynedd; and two grandsons, Nathan R. Baker of State College and Adam R. Baker of Germany. Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Doris J. Cramer.
Services will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 11:00 am in his church, St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 South Baltimore St., Dillsburg. A visitation will be held Saturday from 10-11 am at the church. Burial will follow the service in the Dillsburg Cemetery-Mountain Road.
