Ronald Holler Obituary

Ronald P. Holler, 80, of Mechanicsburg, PA, left this world with the same quiet grace with which he lived in it. Born in June 1945 in Bedford, PA, Ron spent his life pouring love, humor, and kindness into the people lucky enough to cross his path.

Ron retired from FCI, formerly Berg Electronics/DuPont, after 45 years of dedicated work. He was a former member of Christ Community Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher which was a role he filled with compassion, humility, and just enough humor to keep the kids from nodding off.

As a father, Ron coached his daughters’ softball and soccer teams for years, cheering them on with a soft voice but an enormous heart. He may not have been the loudest dad on the sidelines, but he was always the one with the biggest smile when his girls looked his way and he looked their way. As they grew older, this was something that was appreciated more as they shared those moments and would be cherished forever.

Ron’s passions were on the golf course, in the pages of a good book, or writing with a talent and clarity most people only dreamt of. But if you really wanted to see Ron come alive, it would be in the mountains of Colorado and Montana, hunting elk. Bringing home his prized elk, he decided the best place to hang it would be over his bed, which his wife loved.

To many, Ron appeared to be a quiet man….until he wasn’t. Once he opened up, you discovered a witty, clever sense of humor that could catch you off guard and leave you laughing. He was the kind of man who didn't just tell a joke, he delivered it with perfect timing, a twinkle in his eye, and a smile to light up the room along with a gentle chuckle. It's no wonder he was the "favorite uncle" to his many nieces and nephews. He earned this title through his laughter, stories and loving gestures (usually having to do with cheeseballs).

Ron is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Sara Holler, whose hand he held through every chapter until the end. His daughters, Christy (Chris) Evans and Tammy (Raphael Peters) Holler and his cherished granddaughter, Abigail Evans, his “Little Fella,” who lit up his world. He was predeceased by his father, Alive Diehl. Survived by his mother, Faye Diehl, and his brothers, Alan Diehl and Ken Diehl.

Ron’s life was defined by generosity, the quiet kind where he neither asked nor expected anything in return. He had a gift for making people feel important, noticed, and deeply loved. He went out of his way for others not because he felt he had to, but because it was simply who he was. This, above all else, is the piece his family will carry forever.

In Ron’s final hours, something happened, a gift given to him and those that loved him, planned only in the way that The Lord himself could plan. After hours of attempting to play his favorite worship song by Sandi Patty, his wife decided to just let the music play and worship fill the room. In the exact moment it mattered most, the song began to play.

As the room grew still, the words Ron loved so dearly played softly around him:
“The sky shall unfold preparing His entrance; the stars shall applaud Him with thunders of praise.”

As those words filled the room, words he had cherished for so long, Ron took his last breath. It was as if heaven waited for its cue, and when the music finally played, it opened its arms and welcomed him home.

In keeping with Ron’s wishes, no memorial service will be held. Those who wish to honor Ron's memory are invited to make a donation to PSP research at www.CurePSP.org and click on "Donate".
