Rosa Vena “Lee” (Paintar) Homisak, age 101, of Mechanicsburg and formerly of Harrisburg and Camp Hill, passed away Monday morning, May 6th, 2024 at Bethany Village.
She was born Sunday, October 15th, 1922 in Clarksburg, Harrison County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Anton and Anna Kusterle Paintar and youngest sibling to her brother and sisters; Andrew Painter, Frances Abrams and Alice Baucher.
Lee after graduating from high school, she started her early adult life helping the War effort as a “Rosie the Riveter” in the Cleveland Ohio area in the early 40’s. She then became an Associate Real Estate Broker, having worked for John Bolan and John Glise Real Estate from 1972 until 1998, where she was in the Million Dollar Sales Club in excess of 10 years. While working, she attended the University Center at Harrisburg and the New York School of Interior Decorating and received her certification as a Code of Ethics Instructor for the National Association of Realtors.
She was a member of the Greater Harrisburg Board of Realtors, where she served as the Director and Secretary from 1980-1982. She was a Life Member of the Par Excellence Club of PA Association of Realtors, a member of the Historical Society of Harrisburg, the Historic Harrisburg Association, the American Legion Auxiliary and sat on the Executive Board of the Penn-Susquehanna Redevelopment Authority. Lee was a former member of the Cathedral Parish of Saint Patrick, Harrisburg for over sixty years and later in life attended Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Camp Hill and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg. Lee also enjoyed Live Theatre, Opera, Traveling, Baking and was an avid Reader her entire life.
Lee was the widow of the late John T. Homisak, Sr. with who she spent 67 wonderful years of her life with until his death on March 10th, 2011.
Lee is survived by her beloved family, her children: John T. Homisak, Jr. and his wife, Elinor, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; Robert A. Homisak and his wife, Karen, of Palmyra; Nina L. Homisak and her partner, Leonard, of Richmond, CA and Lisa M. Shiner and her husband, David, of Mechanicsburg. Her grandsons: David J. Shiner, Mark R. and Matthew T. Homisak. Her great-grandchildren: Chase Jordan and Carter James Hess-Shiner and Natalie Ann and Nora Lynette Homisak. In addition to her parents and brother and sisters, she was predeceased by a grandson, David E. Homisak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 15th, 2024 at 10:00 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg with the Reverend Kenneth C. Roth, officiating. Burial, alongside her beloved husband, will be immediately following the Mass in the Ft. Indiantown Gap Memorial Cemetery, Annville. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening, May 14th, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut Street, Dillsburg, PA.
