Sandra Carol (Van Vrede) Rout

Sandra Carol Rout, 71, of Dillsburg and formerly of Hanover passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, at her home.

   She was born October 6, 1951, in Cape Town, South Africa the daughter of the late Ferdinand James and Dorothy Olivia (Smitsdorff) Van Vrede.

   Carol was the widow of Geoffrey Kenneth Rout.

   She was a retired Department Manager for the North Hanover Walmart. Carol was formerly employed at Dollar Tree in Hanover for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, gardening, and shopping.

   Carol is survived by four children, Andrew Rout of York Haven, Stuart Rout of York Haven, Laura Pursell (James) of Wellsville, Cameron Rout of Hubert, NC; two siblings, Allister and Gloria Van Vrede of South Africa; nine grandchildren, Rhys, Riley, Lily, Bella, Alex, Owen, Haylie, Logan and Declan. Carol was preceded in death by her brother in May of 2022, Clarence Van Vrede.

   A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg. A visitation will be held Saturday from 1-2 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
