On September 20, 2021 Sherrie Jay Shettel-Caudill 59 of Carlisle, went home to Our Lord. Sherrie passed away in the Harrisburg Hospital with loving family by her side.
She was born on April 9, 1962 in Williamsport, PA and was the daughter of the late Jay E Shettel and Betty L Shettel. She was the sister of the late Maurice E Shettel.
Sherrie graduated from Cumberland Valley H.S. in 1980. She was a Girl Scout, in 4H Club, and was a contestant in the 1980 Miss Teen USA Pageant. She was a talented musician playing both the flute and piano. She loved to take long rides on her horse, Zeke. She read a book a day and enjoyed sitting on her back porch. She worked at Keefer’s IGA, CACI, and Shaffer Trucking, all in Mechanicsburg, PA. She worked 26 years for the Office of Chief Council, PA Dept. of Revenue, Harrisburg, PA.
Sherrie traveled the world in the 70’s, with her family, living in Masjid-i-Solemon, Iran.
She is survived by her son, Jacob L.T. Caudill of York Haven, PA and her daughter, Jerah J.K. Caudill of Carlisle, PA. Sherrie had five grandchildren, Dagan, Wyatt, Cally, Tenley, and Kendall. She was the sister to Jay E. Shettel of Berryville, VA and Lisa L Kyle (James) of Spotsylvania, VA. She had her beloved Aunt Nancy (Bill) in Ashville, NC and her dear Uncle Russell (Kathy), Dillsburg, PA.
Sherrie also leaves behind one niece and 5 nephews, Zachary Kyle, Noah Kyle, Ayden Kyle, Ben Shettel, Eli Shettel, and Rachel Shettel. She is also survived by many cousins on both her mother and father’s side.
Services will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 11:00 am in the Mt. Pleasant Church of God, 146 S. York Rd., Dillsburg, PA. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 to 11:00 am in the church. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Church of God. Those who wish may view the service on Facebook Live on the Cocklin Funeral Home Facebook page.
